The irony of this joke is that most of the folks to which I’m referring will probably never see it.
Nonetheless, I feel the need to acknowledge what seems to be the newest trend in popular Lenten sacrifices: the “social media fast.” Who knows, it may even eventually top “chocolate” as the favorite form of self-denial. Whatever the case, please know that I’m not making fun of those who choose to go that route. After all, Lent isn’t about what we give up as much as it’s about why we choose to do so.
So however we choose (or don’t choose) to observe Lent, may we all keep our eyes on the cross- and may God prepare us to once again celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin and death itself.
