I’m doing my best to generate some enthusiasm, mainly because I know it’ll be pretty dead in most churches. The larger-than-average crowd of Easter has given way to the we’re-not-going-anywhere-for-Spring-Break crowd. As such, for some congregations this Sunday is the worst-attended day of the entire year.
So, to all of my clergy friends taking a much-needed post-Easter vacation: may you return well-rested and renewed.
To the church folks committed enough to show up at church today: God bless you for your faithfulness.
And to many of the rest of the people who are conspicuously absent: we’ll see you again on Mother’s Day and Christmas (but hopefully sooner).
